Dmitry (Dima) Melnik

Dima grew up in the southern part of the USSR, now Republic of Moldova which is a tiny country between Turkey, Ukraine and Romania, just north of the Black Sea. It is close to the home of Count Dracula.

Coming to the US to study, Dima confused rowing for kayaking, a sport that he practiced a little back in Moldova: the Russian language uses the same verb for rowing and kayaking…

However, rowing became Dima’s passion and soon he found himself Wharton Crew (http://www.whartoncrew.org) Captain.

He also was a member of Bachelors Barge Club (http://www.bachelorsbargeclub.org) in Philadelphia, PA, the oldest rowing club in America.

He continued rowing with the Charleston Rowing Club after moving to the area where he is responsible for strategy and mergers and acquisitions at Blackbaud, Inc. (http://www.blackbaud.com), a growing and profitable software solutions vendor.

Dima is member of US Rowing Association (http://www.usrowing.com).

Some of the recent achievements:

3rd place at the Head of the South in 2006 (Augusta, GA)

4th place (and proud! :) ) at the Head of the Cape Fear in 2005 (Wilmington, NC)

3rd place at the MRA in 2005 (Aiken, SC)
